Oliver Giroud also has long history in football that makes him chosen as one of the players who play for French national team in EURO 2016. Giroud is a football player who was born in 30 September 1986. He came from Chambery, France. Since 1994, Giroud has joined local football team in his town, Olympique Club de Froges. He also spent six years of training in that club before he joined the professional football club, Grenoble, at the age of 13. Giroud played for junior team of Grenoble for eight years and signed his first professional contract when he is 21 years old. During the 2005 – 2006 seasons, he is promoted to the backup team of Grenoble that plays in Championnat de France Amateur 2. Giroud scored 15 goals from 15 matches and promoted to the core team of Grenoble in March 2006 by the manager of the team, Thierry Goudet.
Giroud is also promoted to senior team permanently for 2006 – 2007 seasons by the new manager of Grenoble, Payton Pouliquen and Nicola Malgeri. In 26 February 2007, he scored his first professional goal in a match against Le Havre. In 28 May 2008, Giroud signed three years contract with League II club, Tours. Due to injuries, Giroud can start his debut for Tours in 3 September 2008 in Coupe de la Ligue against Boulogne. In Coupe de France, Giroud scored five goals in two matches and in the eighth round of competition he scored the only goal for Tours which bring victory for Tours with 1 – 0 score against Pacy Vallee-d’Eure. In the next round against Reunionais Jeanne d’Arc, Giroud can score four goals. The match is over with 7 – 1 score and bring victory for Tours.
Giroud join the club of Montpellier HSC officially in 1 July 2010. He started his debut for Montpellier in the third qualification round of EUFA against a Hungarian club, Gyori ETO. In this match, he scored his first goal for Montpellier. Giroud finished the 2010 – 2011 seasons as top scorer for the club. In 31 May 2011, he signed the contract extension with Montpellier which is valid until 2014. In 26 June 2012, Arsenal wins the contract with Giroud with transfer price £ 9,600,000. He started his debut for Arsenal in 18 August 2012 in the match against Sunderland. He scored his first goal for Arsenal in 26 September in the match against Coventry City in League Cup.
